Caring Around The Clock

Making Care Work Around Non-Standard Employment

Our Project

For those who work outside the standard ‘9 to 5’, managing family life can be challenging. Changing work hours often makes arranging family life difficult, and whānau often miss out on government help with childcare costs. This adds pressure for whānau on a lower income.

Very little is known about how whānau balance the pressures of work and family life around non-standard employment. Through this research, we are aiming to change this by bringing attention to the stories and needs of whānau trying to juggle family commitments and navigate changing work hours in challenging economic times.

How To Take Part

We want to speak to whānau where at least one parent or main caregiver works outside the standard ‘9 to 5’ and has at least one child aged between 8 to 14 years.

You can have children of other ages too. If this sounds like you and you would like to take part, please do so either via the Contact Form or email us at makingcarework@massey.ac.nz
